Can anyone advise as to whether I need to spend money on a darkroom light bulb for when I am painting the emulsion onto the screen.
What does everyone else do. I have a red bulb from a DIY store, but this is just a 60 watt coloured bulb, so not sure it will be dark enough.
Advice very very much appreciated.

Re: Emulsion - Darkroom Red Light?
Tue, July 31, 2007 - 2:28 PMIt has less to do with wattage, and everything to do with wavelength. Emulsions tend to be fairly light "insensitive" in comparison to darkroom materials, you could use a yellow bug light instead of a red light, and just be mindful of how much time it gets exposed for.
Red light bulbs should be fine, and I wouldn't bother with a (potentially) expensive darkroom light, unless of course, you're wanting to build a full blown darkroom (I did, so I hit up Ebay).
