Emulsion - Darkroom Red Light?

Can anyone advise as to whether I need to spend money on a darkroom light bulb for when I am painting the emulsion onto the screen.

What does everyone else do. I have a red bulb from a DIY store, but this is just a 60 watt coloured bulb, so not sure it will be dark enough.

Advice very very much appreciated.

It has less to do with wattage, and everything to do with wavelength. Emulsions tend to be fairly light "insensitive" in comparison to darkroom materials, you could use a yellow bug light instead of a red light, and just be mindful of how much time it gets exposed for.

Red light bulbs should be fine, and I wouldn't bother with a (potentially) expensive darkroom light, unless of course, you're wanting to build a full blown darkroom (I did, so I hit up Ebay).
