hey i am super new and did my first screen printing today. i looked all over the internet for the easiest cheapest way to do it and found a tutorial using a embroidery hoop and curtain sheer/or nylons and then stenciling the screen ink through the fabric onto the shirt. i tired it and it came out great in my opinion (its the shirt as my profile pic).

so i was wondering if there are any draw backs using this method that others have come across. i haven't seen anyone else mention this way so is there some reason most people don't use it, like something that could happen to the shirt later on? thanks for any help.

  • frankly I have never tried it.
    Perhaps I will someday.
ummm...maybe I have been skeptical or wary of "alternative" materials working and yeilding a nice healthy screen that will give me plenty of use, since I tend to use my screens over and over and they end up taking alot of abuse.

Anyway..i have noticed semi-porous material that looked like it could work as well as screenprinting screen, but have been under the impression that since that wasn't what it was made for maybe i would end up wasting all the effort for a screen that was burned onto something that might more easily rip or be punctured or not stretch right or something.

    Cololr me the non-adventurous type.

I have heard good reviews form lots of people who have successfully done the stuff you decribe...soemwhere in this tribe there are probably liks to sites where folks are doing that kinda stuff.
