I have just made a screen stencil using the emulsion process. There are a few spots that need to be filled because of some markings on my positive. How do I fill them. I have screen filler but after looking at instructions on the web, I some how got myself confused. Is screen filler adequate to fill those spots, or will I need something else?

Ruby Red
Fri, August 22, 2008 - 2:04 AMI used screen filler to fill the 'pinhole' spots on my screen. However, when I tried using this green stuff, it was water soluble and started coming off on the shirts!! Be sure to get 'Ruby Red' screen filler, or at least screen filler that has a red or reddish brown colour. Use something like a paint brush to fill the spots, and let it dry. Then the screen is good to go. Be sure to hold your screen up to a light source to scan it for all those little 'pinholes' before you do your printing, then use the screen filler to block those holes out.

I use bits of brown tape or book covering film to cover the holes.

Tue, August 4, 2009 - 8:24 PMI have seen people use nail polish. Seems to work. Don't know about a long print run. -

Sat, August 8, 2009 - 1:53 PMIt will last if applied to both sides- top and bottom... not too thick though, it tends to be bumpy.
