I screened a shirt for a band that was at my place and then I forgot about the screen and the ink dried inside the screen and now the screen is pretty much ruined, unless some of you ninja screen printers know a good method for fixing this...

Re: Ach! Ruined a screen!
Sat, May 28, 2005 - 2:23 PMi dont have any experience with dried ink on screens, acrylic or otherwise, but i did buy a bunch of screens from a shop a while back, and a couple of them had dried ink on them. i havent tackled the problem yet, but my tenative plan was to see if a pressure washer does the trick when i reclaim them. if you try it, post the results, im interested to know if it works. ill do the same if i get around to it here in the near future.

Sat, January 20, 2007 - 10:11 AMI don't know if this works for inks, but I know that rubbing alcohol dissolves acrylic paint, so you might want to try that.

Thu, January 25, 2007 - 7:56 AMScreen reclaimer and a powerwasher would probably help. You can rent a washer from Home Depot or the lkike usually.

Re: Ach! Ruined a screen!
Sun, January 28, 2007 - 5:02 PMIf you used water based ink... forget about it. Get new screens and never let the ink dry in the screen. OR.. use plastisol ink, which requires high heat(220-300+ degrees F).
